The Evolving Bioeconomy & Renewable Fuels Event

Join us for our upcoming event with bioenergy and clean energy professionals at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center (DC Convention Center) on The Evolving Bioeconomy and Renewable Fuels on Monday, June 22, from 6-8 p.m.

Topics will include the renewable fuels standard, how bioenergy resources can be produced in sustainable ways, utilizing algae as a way to produce products and capture carbon, and employment and career opportunities in the bioenergy sector. This event will take place on the evening before the U.S. Department of Energy, Bioenergy 2015 Conference on Tuesday, June 23 through Wednesday, June 24, at the DC Convention Center. This will be a great opportunity to meet other bioenergy and clean energy professionals from around the U.S. and the world who will be attending the conference.

The Moderator:

Bill Brandon, the author of several articles published in Biofuels USA and Biofuels Digest, is deeply engaged with the biofuels and materials industry. He has a deep understanding of engines and alternative fuels. Bill’s present focus is on technology integration and deployment, urban and farm wastes to energy and vertical or City Farming.

Featured Speakers Include:

Erick Lutt

Erick Lutt will examine advances in algae use and the Environmental Production Agency policies on renewable fuel standards. He is the Director for Policy for the Biotechnology Industry Organization’s Industrial and Environmental Section.

Kristen Johnson will present on integrated landscape management as a way to enhance sustainable feedstocks. She is the Sustainability Technology Manager with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bioenergy Technologies Office.

Capture_Scott Sklar

Scott Sklar will discuss the need and advantage of E30-40 ethanol blends and issues on integrating existing infrastructure, business structures, and existing biorefineries to establish the advanced biobased fuels and chemical industry. Scott teaches two unique interdisciplinary courses on Sustainable Energy at The George Washington University. He also runs a clean energy technology optimization and strategic policy firm, The Stella Group, Ltd.

Dan Smolen

Dan Smolen will explore green jobs and career opportunities in the bioenergy field. Dan is the Chief Talent Officer for Leaders in Energy. He is also the founder of the green business and social good talent firm, The Green Suits, LLC.
