Sustainable Manufacturing: Building the Circular Economy Workshop and Happy Hour

March 19, 2015 @ 11:30 am - 9:00 pm UTC-5

Leaders in Energy is pleased to announce its workshop on “Sustainable Manufacturing: Building the Circular Economy for the Washington DC/Baltimore MD/Northern VA Region.” This event is being co-hosted with the Alexandria Emerging Technology Center. (The $200 Workshop fee includes: Facility tour, working lunch, and evening professional networking Happy Hour). Sponsors include Biogas Researchers Inc.

Today’s industrial linear processes, the “take, make, dispose” model, are putting the planet’s resources, our ultimate supply chain, at risk. A circular economy transforms that model with a holistic approach to the design and use of products, materials, and resources to maximize their value. Examples of sustainable manufacturing or light manufacturing are clean energy-related segments such as wind energy, solar and smart grid, as well as food preparation, and 3D printing. The economic benefits to businesses are through opening new routes for revenue and maximizing profits, as well as creating new jobs, building resilience in local economies, and market competitiveness. The impact of the circular economy on these processes and the benefits will be discussed at this event.

The workshop will be followed by a professional networking Happy Hour in Alexandria, VA at Connect 113 located at 113 S. Columbus Street, Alexandria VA 22314. ($20 with pre-registration; $25 at door – includes beer and pizza). NOTE: Attendees may register separately for the Happy Hour without attending the workshop.
