Sustainability, Resiliency, and Economic Opportunities

October 20, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm UTC-5

Learn more about what Washington DC is doing as one of the designated “100 Resilient Cities,” pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation, to help cities around the world become more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century. We will be examining where economic opportunities based on “restorative development ,” as described in the book titled “The Restoration Economy” by Storm Cunningham, can help provide immediate and emerging opportunities for businesses, communities, and investors. One project involves the development of food hubs in DC to help revitalize urban communities and provide healthier food options and economic opportunities to residents.

Our speakers are:
Storm Cunningham – International speaker and author of books including The Restoration Economy and ReWealth
Harrison Newton – Chief Manager responsible for launching the District’s 100 Resilient Cities program.
Dwane Jones, Ph.D. – Director of the Center for Sustainable Development and Resilience at the University of the District of Columbia.
