Improving Resilience Through Microgrids & Battery Storage

October 19, 2017 @ 5:30 pm - 8:30 pm UTC-5

Join us for our event on “Improving Resilience Through Microgrids and Battery Storage” at the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) on Thursday, October 19th, 5:30-8:30 pm. We are partnering with Resilient Virginia whose mission is to accelerate resiliency planning. We will examine microgrids and their ability to help enhance resiliency in the DC Metro Region. Our event will include speakers and topics on technology that support the utility/microgrid interface, tools for developers to assess microgrid viability based on existing infrastructure and regulations, how local governments in the DMV are working with private companies to make microgrid development financially feasible, and how our regional Department of Defense installations are including microgrids as part of their energy security systems.

John Caldwell, Ph.D., Director of Economics, EEI, will provide a utility perspective. In addition, Dan Ton, US Department of Energy Microgrid Program, will present an overview of national research and development initiatives, and several regional microgrid projects will be featured. Other specifiers and entities that are using or considering microgrid and/or energy storage will also attend. Speaker and registration information is available at: https://leadersinenergy.org/microgrids/
