SUMMARY:Climate Risks & Opportunities in Our Local Region of Washington DC\, Maryland and Virginia
DESCRIPTION:Topic\nAre you curious as to what is being predicted for the Washington DC\, Maryland\, and Virginia areas in terms of projected climate change risks and impacts? Do you wonder what federal\, state and local actions are being taken to address these issues and what opportunities may result in terms of related economic development and employment opportunities? \nSeveral reports have come out recently pertaining to climate change including: 1) the International Panel on Climate Change\’s fifth assessment\, 2) the U.S. Global Change Research Program\’s National Climate Assessment\, and 3) the EPA\’s Climate Change Indicators in the United States 2014 report. \nSpeakers\nAllison Crimmins\, an environmental scientist in EPA’s Climate Change Division will address the EPA Climate Indicators 2014 Report. Allison has her MPP in International and Global Affairs from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government and her MS in Oceanography and Marine Science from San Francisco State University.\nVictoria Ludwig\, a program manager in EPA’s State and Local Climate and Energy Program will discuss mitigation actions and touch on adaptation measures. Victoria has her Masters in Environmental Management from Duke University’s Nicholas School of the Environment. \nCo-Hosting Groups\nArlington Green Drinks and the Mid-Atlantic Region of Environmental Professionals (MAREP)
